Should I buy a meal plan?
Studies have shown that purchasing a meal plan supports student success. Meal Plans offer the convenience of on-campus dining without carrying cash. They are a great value, and with a Meal Plan, you have guaranteed meals without the hassle of having to plan, shop for, cook, and clean up after meals.
What are the meal plans and how much do they cost?
On-Campus residents are given three meal plan options from which to choose. The price of each option is $1035.00, but the number of meals and amount of declining balance points differ on each plan. Commuter Students now have the option to buy a semester meal plan for $350.00. See the following meal options:
ON-CAMPUS RESIDENTS
- 15 Meals + $100 Declining Balance
- 10 Meals + $225 Declining Balance
- 5 Meals + $425 Declining Balance
CAJUN COMMUTER STUDENTS
- 3 Meals + $150 Declining Balance
Do I have to buy a meal plan if I live on campus?
All students living in the housing facilities on campus must participate in one of our ON-CAMPUS RESIDENTS meal plan packages. Students are given three meal plan options from which to choose. The price of each option is the same, but the number of meals and amount of declining balance points differ on each plan.
Can I change my meal plan?
Yes. Meal plans may be changed up to the close of business on the second Friday of classes for each semester in which they are active.
When can I start using my meal plan?
Students may use their declining balance dollars at our retail facilities beginning on the Wednesday before the first day of classes provided that the balance for their meal plan has been paid. Cafeteria meals will be served beginning the first day of classes. |
How do I access my meal plan?
Your meal plan will automatically be on your Cajun Card once purchased.
Can Sodexho Dining Services provide assistance for my special diet?
Our goal is to help students focus on health and nutrition. Our Executive Chef will work with you to make sure you have what is needed for special dietary needs.
What is Declining Balance and where can I use it?
Declining balance points are points that can be used at any of our retail facilities, such as Quiznos and Chick-fil-A, in place of actual dollars. Each point is representative of $1.00 and can be used at any time during the semester. Declining balance points that are included in the meal plan options DO NOT roll over from one semester to the next. Our retail food venues are listed below:

What if I lose my ID card?
It is important to report lost or stolen ID cards immediately to the Cajun Card office located in Student Union Room 130.
Can I use Financial Aid to pay for my meal plan?
Yes. Government grants and loans may be used to pay for your meal plans.
What if I run out of money during the semester?
Additional money can be added throughout the semester through the One Card Office . Purchases can be made online at http://cajuncard.louisiana.edu or by calling (337) 851-2273.
